Corelle

  • ABOUT

Corelle® dinnerware is the original break and chip resistant glass dinnerware. Introduced in 1970 and the first of its kind when developed, Corelle is recognised worldwide for its legendary strength and durability.

Corelle glass dinnerware is made through a hub lamination process that thermally bonds three layers of glass: core glass in the middle, with top and bottom layers of very clear “skin” or “glaze” glass.  The process creates a lightweight, durable, multi-layered product called Vitrelle®.   In addition, the unique enamels used during the decorating process actually becomes part of the glass, so the patterns last as long as the plate.

Through extensive consumer research, it was established that consumers wanted dinnerware that was:

    • Easy to clean
    • Dishwasher and oven safe
    • Lightweight, yet durable
    • Break, chip, craze spot and fade-resistant under normal use
    • Affordable, yet attractive.

Achieving all of these points, so popular was Corelle that throughout its first decade, Corelle Livingware™ was virtually sold out, even before it was made.  Within 18 months after Corelle was first placed on sale, more than 40 million pieces had been sold in the USA –an unprecedented record.

Today it is estimated that nearly half of all households have Corelle break and chip resistant dinnerware in their kitchens.

Our philosophy at Corelle is simple, we want you to be proud to set your table with Corelle dinnerware - both for entertaining and for your family every day. We strive to keep our patterns on trend to provide you with the ultimate in dinnerware that fits your life and your style!

  • MANUFACTURING & MATERIALS

    Vitrelle® Glass

Each piece of Corelle® glass dinnerware is like a sandwich, consisting of two different glass compositions (core and glaze). The lamination results in Vitrelle glass that exceeds the normal strength possible for any single glass composition. Put simply, lamination does for glass just what it does for wood: It yields a finished product that is much stronger than the individual components from which it is made.

The Pressware Manufacturing Plant in Corning, NY, is a Corelle production marvel. In just under 15 minutes, plates and bowls go from molten glass to finished product – sealed with an easily removable protective wax coating and placed in a packing case. Due to this incredible speed, the Pressware Plant produces up to 100 million pieces of Corelle glass dinnerware each year.

Corelle’s Livingware™, Vive™, Impressions™, and Square™ lines of glass dinnerware are made from “Vitrelle 1”, the original Corelle glass material known for its strength, durability, and versatility.

We are so confident in the strength and durability of our dinnerware , we offer a three-year warranty on all Vitrelle glass dinnerware items. Corelle will replace any Vitrelle dinnerware item that breaks or chips under normal household use.

  • USE & CARE

Corelle® plates and bowls are made of Vitrelle® glass. Mugs are made of porcelain or stoneware as noted on the package. Please review information on bottom of items prior to use.

Corelle products can be used for serving and re-heating food in microwaves or pre-heated conventional ovens up to 350° F (176° C). To warm empty dinnerware for serving, use pre-heated conventional ovens only. Porcelain and stoneware mugs are microwavable.

ALL GLASS, PORCELAIN AND STONEWARE CAN BE BROKEN and care should be taken in handling. A drop or knock against a hard object may cause immediate breakage or enough damage so that the item breaks later for no apparent reason. Such breakage may make a noise and can break into many small pieces. Be careful in handling as pieces may be sharp.

Wash Corelle dinnerware items by hand or in an automatic dishwasher. Load items to avoid bumping against other items during cycle. To remove gray or rust marks, clean with non-abrasive cleanser. If scouring is necessary, use only plastic or nylon cleaning pads with non-abrasive cleansers. DO NOT allow stoneware or porcelain mugs to soak/stand in water for an extended period of time. Applied heat after soaking may cause glaze cracking.

    Warnings
Failure to follow the warnings below may cause an item to break or shatter immediately or late, resulting in personal injury or property damage. Corelle glass dinnerware is intended for normal household use only. It is not intended for camping, industrial, or commercial use.
